A hospital-based imaging department located in Arkansas, approximately one hour southwest of Little Rock, is seeking an experienced Sonographer to join its diagnostic imaging team.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for a skilled ultrasound professional who is comfortable working in an acute-care hospital environment. The ideal candidate will have strong sonography experience, excellent patient-care skills, and the ability to perform high-quality diagnostic examinations in a fast-paced clinical setting.

• Rotating call responsibilities

Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations according to established imaging protocols.
• Prepare patients for ultrasound procedures and explain examinations clearly.
• Verify patient identification, clinical history, and examination orders.
• Position patients appropriately for diagnostic examinations.
• Operate ultrasound equipment safely and effectively.
• Select appropriate imaging protocols based on the examination ordered.
• Produce high-quality diagnostic images for interpretation by radiologists and physicians.
• Perform appropriate measurements, calculations, and image documentation.
• Recognize and document relevant sonographic findings.
• Evaluate images for technical quality and obtain additional images when appropriate.
• Monitor patients throughout examinations and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.
• Provide compassionate and professional patient care.
• Maintain accurate patient and imaging documentation.
• Follow established infection-control and patient-safety procedures.
• Maintain equipment and report equipment issues or malfunctions appropriately.
• Perform quality-control procedures as required.
• Follow departmental, regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
• Protect patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements.
• Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, technologists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Assist with urgent and emergent imaging needs within the hospital.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized imaging environment.
• Participate in quality-improvement initiatives.
• Perform additional sonography and imaging responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Prior Sonographer experience required.
• ARDMS certification/registry required or appropriate credentialing based on departmental requirements.
• Appropriate Arkansas sonography/licensure or credentialing requirements must be met.
• BLS certification required.
• Associate degree or equivalent education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a related field required.
• Demonstrated ability to independently perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations.
• Strong knowledge of ultrasound protocols, anatomy, patient positioning, and image optimization.
• Experience in a hospital-based or acute-care imaging environment preferred.
• Strong patient-care and communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Strong critical-thinking and clinical judgment skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.
• Ability to participate in a rotating call schedule.
• Commitment to patient safety, diagnostic quality, and regulatory compliance.
