Registered Art Therapist Job Overview:

  • Organize groups according to the patients' capabilities, needs, and interest.
  • Be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of art therapy.
  • Analyze data to determine effectiveness of treatments or therapy approaches.
  • Analyze or synthesize client data to draw conclusions or make recommendations for art therapy.
  • Assess client needs or disorders, using drawing, painting, sculpting, or other artistic processes.
  • Conduct art therapy sessions providing guided self-expression experiences to help clients recover from or cope with cognitive, emotional, or physical impairments.
  • Confer with other professionals on client's treatment team to develop, coordinate, or integrate treatment plans.

Registered Art Therapist Job Qualifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Master's Degree in Art Therapy from an accredited college/university that is registered or pending registration
  • Two (2) years' experience within the past four (4) years providing Art Therapy
  • Graduate from an Art Therapy program accredited by the American Art Therapy Association (AATA)
  • Certification: Current certification as a Registered Art Therapist from the Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB)
