Job Description
Must-Haves
1. Licenses: RT(R) or Paramedic
2. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) obtained through the American Heart Association (AHA) required upon hire. Acute Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained through the American Heart Association (ACLS) is required within 6 months of employment.
3. Graduate of Radiology Technology program (RT-R), or Graduate of a Paramedic Program.
Job Description
Position Summary:
The Cardiac Cath/IR Lab Tech provides services in the Cath/IR Lab Department. Works cooperatively and effectively with staff and other administrative support personnel in maintaining the standards of professional behavior. Must provide skill and talent that will add value to the facility. Performs duties in the department in compliance with policies and procedures of the hospital, regulations or applicable regulatory agencies. Performs other duties as assigned.
Reports to: Director of Cardiology Services
• Diagnostic viewing of coronary and peripheral arteries
• Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS)
• Revascularization of coronary and peripheral arteries
• Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA)
• Stenting
• Peripheral Atherectomy
• Insertion of Temporary and Permanent Pacemakers
• Mechanical and Pharmacological Thrombolysis
• Right Heart Catherization
• Insertion of Swan-Ganz catheters
• Insertion of Intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP)
• Insertion, removal, exchange, declots of hemodialysis catheters
• Insertion of PICC lines
• Insertion of nephrostomy tubes, g-tubes, biliary drains
• Insertion of Pleurx catheters
• Kyphoplasty
• Vertebroplasty
• Monitoring and documentation of hemodynamic status intraprocedure.
Maintains sterile field. Safely prepares and labels all the medications on the sterile field, continually accounts for number and location of instruments, sharps, sponges to prevent retained foreign objects. Operates and maintains fluoroscopy equipment.
Qualifications
Minimum Education
High School Graduate or GED Equivalent.
Graduate of Radiology Technology program (RT-R), or Graduate of a Paramedic Program.
