Grossing Technician - Modesto, CA

A pathology laboratory in California's Central Valley is looking for a Grossing Technician to join its growing laboratory team!

Position Highlights:

• Full-time, permanent position

• Evening shift: 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM

Responsibilities:

• Perform gross examination, description, and dictation of surgical pathology specimens

• Gross gastrointestinal biopsies, prostate cores, and small tissue specimens

• Prepare tissue specimens for embedding, staining, and microscopic evaluation

• Ensure accurate specimen accessioning and documentation

• Select representative tissue sections for further examination

• Collaborate with pathologists regarding specimen handling and special procedures

• Maintain laboratory equipment and grossing stations

• Follow laboratory safety and quality control protocols

• Identify and resolve specimen discrepancies

Qualifications:

• Associate of Science degree in Biological Sciences or a related field required

• Knowledge of human anatomy and surgical pathology techniques preferred

• Familiarity with histological techniques and tissue preparation

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced laboratory environment

• Experience with laboratory information systems and electronic documentation preferred

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills

• Familiarity with HIPAA and laboratory safety requirements
