Job Summary

We are looking for individuals to join our client’s team as Scheduling Coordinator. The position is to schedule orthopedic surgeries at a busy sports medicine and general ortho practice. As a member of the patient care team and the primary point of patient contact, the Surgery/ Procedure Scheduler is responsible for positive patient relations, proper telephone communication, appointment scheduling, patient registration, as well as payment and co-payment collection. This position also performs routine duties associated with the collection and maintenance of current patient demographics and insurance information.


Job Description

  • Greet patients and assist in resolving patient concerns and escalating as appropriate
  • Check patients in/out and collect co-payments, give receipts, and reconcile payments
  • Verify patient demographics and insurance information in CS-Link/Epic
  • Schedule appointments, complete patient registration, collect patient payments, and provide a high level of patient service
  • Assist with the management of physician schedules and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Process and track referrals and authorizations for various insurance types
  • Manage patient care flow and assist with monitoring CS-Link message pools and standard work
  • Handle patient/provider correspondence
  • Explain polices, procedures, or services to patients
  • Sanitize workspace using provided supplies and following department guidelines


Skills Required

  • Perform basic statistical calculations on data for reports and presentations.
  • Perform specialized administrative duties required to support the specific program area, using discretion to make judgments based on operating guidelines.
  • Compile and maintain information that may require web or library researching, gathering, compiling, and updating data and records.
  • Must have experience with scheduling in EPIC.
  • Experience with medical insurance, referral processes, and benefit plans
  • Ability to read, understand, and respond to detailed oral and written instructions
  • MUST have surgery scheduling experience


Education/Training/Certifications

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • 6+ months recent experience working in an outpatient clinic or medical office setting

Preferred:

  • Associates degree or higher college education
  • 2+ years’ recent experience working as a Surgery/Procedure Scheduler in an outpatient medical office setting in any capacity (can train for orthopedic surgery scheduling)


Additional Requirements

  • Adhere to company guidelines regarding COVID compliance
  • Experience with CS-Link/Epic
  • Understanding of medical terminology
  • Shift: 08:00 - 17:00


Pay Rate

  • $19.50 per hour
