Compliance Officer
(Louisville, KY or Pittsburgh, PA)

Springstone, Inc. is an innovative and growing behavioral health services company that develops and operates private hospitals and outpatient facilities that provide a continuum of services to treat mental illness and substance abuse. This position is responsible for directing and implementing an effective compliance program to prevent illegal, unethical or improper conduct and for establishing a culture where strict adherence to the highest ethical standards is supported and expected. We require a highly self-motivated professional with the ability to develop relationships, establish credibility and provide system leadership through strong communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness, and demonstrated technical expertise.

Duties:
Provide compliance oversight and direction for the companys compliance initiatives through the following:
* Promote a culture of ethical behavior and adherence to all applicable laws, regulations and accreditation standards.
* Review OIG work plans, TJC surveys and complaints and perform risk assessments to determine exposure areas.
* Lead the corporate compliance committee to support multi-disciplinary, system-wide support and awareness of the companys efforts to promote ethical behavior and hold employees accountable to meet the companys standards
* Develop and direct appropriate audits based upon risk assessments.
* Assure follow through and effectiveness of corrective actions resulting from external and internal reviews, audits and monitoring activity.
* Review, update and disseminate compliance policies.
* responsible for a ensuring compliance with coding and billing rules and regulations, including oversight of auditing functions
* Collaborate with quality, nursing, finance, HIM to ensure compliant coding and documentation.
* Collaborate with the law department, HR, department and operations department to develop and support policies, training, investigations, and follow up to support ethical and compliant practices.
* Work with the human resource department and others as appropriate to develop effective compliance communication and training programs, including introductory training for new employees, ongoing training for all employees and specialized training as required.
* Coordinate with the law department to provide compliance support to the contracting review and approval process to ensure that contracts are developed and executed in a manner compliance with federal and state laws and regulations and Springstone policies.
* Oversee and operate retaliation-free reporting channels, including the compliance hotline. Oversee the investigation of compliance related issues and hotline generated calls.
* Maintain data and develop analytics that report on compliance department operations.
* Develop and prepare compliance reports and presentations for Compliance Committee, Board of Managers, senior management and other constituents.
* Provide compliance related presentations and education to various constituents.
* Maintain documentation of compliance related investigations, audits and follow up activities.
* Monitor the performance of the compliance program and related auditing and monitoring activities on a continuous basis, taking appropriate steps to improve effectiveness.

Required Education and Experience:
* Candidates must have an outstanding record of achievement with at least ten (10) years of leadership experience in healthcare compliance, preferably for a large, multi-faceted for-profit healthcare organization with a matrixed reporting structure.
* Candidates must be familiar with billing practices to both government and commercial payers.
* A Bachelors degree is required and a Masters Degree, CPA and/or JD is preferred.
* Certification in healthcare compliance (CHC, CHC-F, CHRC and/or CCEP) is strongly preferred.

Other Qualifications:
* Executive level writing and presentation ability is essential
* Problem solving and analytical skills
* Project management skills
* Working knowledge of applicable healthcare federal and state laws, regulations and statues
* The successful candidate will be a collaborative leader comfortable spearheading and supporting change in a complex environment
