Medical Office Clerk (Tricare Operations Administration)

Location: USAFA, CO

Work Schedule: Works Monday through Friday. The exact hours would be dependent on where the person is working, but would be an 8-10 hours per day is anticipated and not exceed 40 hours per week. Normal place of duty is at the Air Force Academy Medical TRICARE office.

SUMMARY: The Contractor shall provide TRICARE Operations Administration (TOPA) clerk services to the Medical Management Department and TRICARE beneficiaries to ensure daily functions associated with specialty referral review and coordination, beneficiary counseling, and referral tracking.

DUTIES:
1.1. Performs a variety of clerical duties in support of patient care and treatment within specified sections at the 10th Medical Group, USAFA CO. Individuals in these positions may be moved dependent on TOPA requirements. Clerks will Use the Ambulatory Data System (ADS), Composite Health Care System (CHCS), Healthcare Artifact and Image Management Solutions (HAIMS), and Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA) computer terminals in performance of duties.
1.2. Medical Office Clerk duties:
1.2.1. Greets patients/visitors at a front desk, information center, or office setting.
1.2.2. Answers main office phone line. Directs calls to appropriate section for assistance. Takes messages as required.
1.2.3. Determines patient eligibility for services.
1.2.4. Obtains documentation as requested by healthcare providers.
1.2.5. Performs other administrative and clerical duties in support of the medical care and operational support.
1.3. CLR processing duties:
1.3.1. Processes electronic and or hard copy clear and legible reports from network providers. Referral results and ancillary reports will be processed in accordance with AF and or Multi Service Market policy. CLRs are processed and sent to PCM and requesting providers within strict timeframes ensuring legibility and a traceable audit trail. Make appropriate entries into HAIMS and AHLTA as necessary.
1.4. Referral tracking duties:
1.4.1. Coordinates referral management functions, to include TRICARE Plus (TPLUS) and ensures team members receive information in a timely and efficient manner to facilitate continuity of patient care.

1.4.2 Coordinates specialty care referrals. Maintains and tracks referral records for all beneficiaries, to include TPLUS.
1.4.3. Reviews specialty care referrals for appropriateness, covered benefit, and administrative and completeness

QUALIFICATIONS:
2.1. English Language Requirement and Citizenship. Must be able to read, understand, speak, and write English well enough to communicate effectively and must be a United States Citizen.
2.2. Education. Contract employees must have a high school degree or GED equivalent.
2.3. General medical ethics, telephone etiquette, and excellent communication and customer service skills.
2.4. General office administrative and clerical skills to perform duties and answer telephones.
2.5. Standard office equipment, such as computers, keyboard, copiers, fax machines, telephone systems and office automation systems.
