Job Title: Speech-Language Pathologist
Job Description: Our client is a private, non profit, acute care, community hospital located in the Northeast area of Vermont. This facility has an immediate opening for a certified Speech Language Pathologist Full Time, Day Shift, to contract to our area schools and early education agencies. As a regional health center, and to meet the demands of our community, we are increasing our contracted service provision to our local school district. Contracted services will include: Family Infant Todder Program (0-3), Early Essential Education (3-5), elementary, middle and secondary schools. As an employee of North Country Health System, a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is part of a rehabilitation team joining 4 other speech language pathologists, and a team of occupational and physical therapists.



This position requires skills in educational SLP assessment and intervention for pediatric to adolescent age groups with typical to complex communication disorders. This SLP must provide the following: ongoing education to paraeducators/speech aides, teachers, and families; written and/or verbal communication to primary care providers and administrators; collaboration with specialists in various disciplines to better serve the client and help them reach their maximal potential, further development and organization of the speech-language department to maximize the wellness of each person referred to us for speech, language, cognitive or swallowing dysfunction.



Job Requirements: As a clinician working in a rural environment, this SLP must be sensitive to cultural and socioeconomic needs of our population. You must possess reliable transportation, but will not be required to travel more than 45 minutes to any school site. Continuing Education is highly supported, with a minimum requirement of 30 hours per calendar year at this institution. This SLP must hold a Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Speech Language Pathology, hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence, and be licensed (or be working toward licensure) as a Educator Speech Language Pathologist for the State of Vermont. You must call or email the VT Dept of Educator Licensing for SLP’s to inquire about specific regulations. An SLP must show evidence of good analytical skills in the area of oral and written assessment, must show evidence of appropriate decision making skills, show evidence of treatment documentation, and demonstrate a high-level of collaboration and communication skills. Interest in conducting clinical scientific research is promoted and supported by the department and by senior management. Phone calls will be made to your references. Finger-printing (criminal record check) is required to work with students in the state of VT.
