Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must have the knowledge/ability to perform all tasks listed in the scope of work. Scope of Work: Prioritize workload, rearranging schedule to accommodate critical and emergent exams. Daily workload is averages approximately 15-20 patients per day. Identify patient with two identifiers (full name and full social security number or full date of birth). Explain the exam to competent patients in a courteous and respectful manner so that patients understand what is being done. Register and edit exams; access patients' electronic medical record to review allergies, lab values, medications, consent, and providers' orders. Perform a wide range of diagnostic Radiologic exams including but not limited to: extremities, chest, abdomen, spine, fluoro, operating room, and portable radiology exams. Administer oral and rectal contrast per Radiologist instructions during fluoroscopy exams, Assist Radiologist performing therapeutic joint injections, arthrograms, and lumbar punctures. This requires knowledge of sterile procedure, proper handling of specimens, and proper disposal of shams and body fluids. Perform a wide range of Computed Tomography exams including but not limited to: head, spine, chest, abdomen (without and with oral and IV contrast), and PE exam on a GE 64 slice VCT scanner. Prepare arid administer oral contrast per providers' orders. Prepare and administer IV contrast (per providers' orders) using a power injector. Technologist is competent to start an IV. Document oral and IV contrast in the patients' electronic chart. Monitor the patient for any adverse reaction to oral or IV contrast. Any reaction will be reported to the physician. An incident report will be completed and the reaction to contrast will be documented in the patients' electronic chart. Adjust positioning and technical exposure factors to meet the unique needs of the Radiology department customers. Properly orient, identify and label all images. PACS will be used to store and retrieve images. Participate in obtaining informed consent when necessary. Technologist will participate and document "time-out" as necessary. Technologist will perform and document medication reconciliation as necessary. Document fluoroscopy time in the patients' electronic chart. Fluoroscopy time performed in the OR will be documented in iSite. Maintain clean and organized work area. Maintain adequate supplies in general radiology rooms and CT room. Identify and clean reusable medical equipment according to department Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and manufacturers' directions. Practices ALARA (as low as (is) reasonably achievable). Utilizes lead shielding and aprons as appropriate, and wears radiation monitoring device. Performs restart, Quality Assurance (QA), and tube warm up as necessary. Informs Radiology manager of any equipment problems. Perform dexA scans, as necessary. Independently generate disc containing radiology and vascular exams. Employee will obtain release of information. Practices proper hand hygiene. Utilizes personal protective equipment as necessary. Practice "hand off communication" to communicate necessary patient information to the next health care worker when required. Maintain documentation and clinical records in a complete, timely, and compliant manner IAW Lebanon VAMC policies, and current applicable Joint Commission Standards. The Contractor shall report important clinical data including entry into the Veterans Health Information System and Technology Architecture (VISTA) database. The process for entry of data may include manual entry or an automated procedure; however, it must adhere to applicable VA Automated Information Security (AIS) system regulations, see Lebanon VAMC Policy “Automated Information Systems Security Policy,” dated 15 October 2009 (or subsequent revisions thereto), which will be provided to the Contractor’s service provider upon commencement of performance. This policy provides basic end-user information, inclusive of, but not limited to, not sharing passwords and not locking down the computer when away from it. The Contractor shall ensure all equipment is properly cleaned and stored at the end of each work shift.
