Job Description

Luke & Associates is now hiring a Recreational Therapist to work at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center to work in Portsmouth, VA.

Position Requirements:

Education: Possess a Baccalaureate degree in therapeutic recreation from an accredited university.

Experience: Possess a minimum of two (2) years’ experience within the past four (4) years providing Recreational Therapy.

Certification Verification:
The Contractor Personnel shall have and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Licensing: Possess and maintain certification as a Recreational Therapist from the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).

Job duties include but are not limited to:

Develop and implement individual recreation programs based on assessment results.

Provide teaching, coaching, and support as required on a time-limited basis.

Re-evaluate recreational activities on a regular basis as part of the overall Community Support and Rehabilitation Plan Review in coordination with client’s primary support worker.

Maintain a minimum workload of direct client intervention as directed by immediate supervisor.
Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meeting to evaluate and review the care provided to patients.

Provide individual consultation to staff as requested.

Deliver presentations to staff on recreational opportunities.

Collate resource information on community recreation and leisure programs, prepares a resource binder, and updates as needed
Facilitate integration into community recreational opportunities.
