Job Description

QuarterLine provides professional health care staffing services to military hospitals and health clinics across the United States. We are currently seeking a full-time Optometrist at
NAVSTA Norfolk Branch Health Clinic (BHC), Virginia.

The duties include but are not limited to the following:
Technically direct, oversee, or instruct other health care professionals seeing patients within the scope of clinical privileges or responsibilities.
Promote preventive and health maintenance care, including appropriate periodic examinations, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling.
Request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.

The Optometrist will generally work between the hours of 7:00 am and 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The Optometrist will be scheduled for an 8.5 hour shift, including an uncompensated 30 minute meal break. The Optometrist will be on duty for 80 hours every 2 weeks, except during periods of approved leave and holidays.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Possess a Doctorate Degree in Optometry from an accredited college approved by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education.

License: Possess and maintain a current, unrestricted license to practice optometry in any one of the fifty States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands. The HCW is responsible for complying with applicable licensing regulations.

Letters of Recommendation: Must provide two letters of recommendation. At least one of the letters must be from a practicing optometrist, supervisor or physician attesting to the HCW’s professional skills and competencies. Reference letters must include name, title, phone number, date of reference, address and signature of the individual providing reference. Letters of reference must have been written within the preceding 3 years.

Certification: Must possess and maintain a current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration number (certificate) to prescribe controlled substances.
