This facility is seeking a full time Director of Medical Records to:
*Develops and implements policies and procedures for documenting, storing, and retrieving information, and for processing medical-legal documents, insurance data, and correspondence requests, in conformance with federal, state, and local statutes.
*Supervises staff, in preparing and analyzing medical documents. Participates in development and design of computer software for computerized health information system.
*Responsible for Inpatient, Psych, Outpatient, Dental, Home Health, and other program medical records.
*Duties include a significant amount of time assembling, analyzing and coding (diagnostic, procedural & E&M) medical records especially with Inpatient, Inpatient Psychiatry, Outpatient, Dental and other non-hospital program records.
*Coordinates medical care evaluation with medical staff and develops criteria and methods for such evaluation.
*Develops in-service educational materials and conducts instructional programs for health care personnel.
*Prepares department budget
Other duties and responsibilities:
*Chairperson for Record Review committee
*Chairperson for Forms committee
*Member of Performance Improvement committee, *Survey Readiness committee, FISSH (Meditech) conversion committee, HIPAA committee
*Coordinate off-site storage of all hospital data
*Coordinate selection & distribution of records for Peer Review & track statistics
*Over-site of medical transcription service
*Over-site of evaluation program report tracking & distribution
*Compilation and distribution of weekly delinquency stats
*Compilation and distribution of monthly charge ticket statistics
Experience:
*Bachelor's Degree
*Minimum of one year as a Director/Manager/Supervisor of Medical Records in a hospital setting and Certification at a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) issued by AHIMA or,
Three years as a Supervisor of Medical Records in a hospital setting and Certification as at Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) issued by AHIMA or
Knowledge of JCAHO, Massachusetts and Federal requirements for Inpatient, Outpatient, Rehab, Day Surgery & Psych programs
*Knowledge of HIPAA privacy requirements and an ability to play a leadership role in protecting patient privacy.
*Experience with Meditech Information System highly desirable.
*Strong computer skills or knowledge of MS4, ICIP, and Dentrix systems preferred.
