Must have at least 1 year of experience postdoctoral in the VHA or comparable setting. Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible. DEA Registration is required. BLS and/or ACLS required. Must have completed a professional psychology internship program that has been accredited by the APA. Must hold a state license to practice psychology. Must have advanced knowledge of psychological diagnosis, intervention, and behavioral health that qualifies him/her to provide advice and consultation to professionals representing a variety of disciplines. Must not have any physical limitation of other condition(s) that may adversely affect his/her ability to perform as required by his/her contract. Must have excellent interpersonal, writing, typing, and verbal skills. Additional Requirements/Disqualifying Factors: Must not have had a loss, reduction, restriction or revocation of his/her clinical privileges at any institution due to disciplinary action. Must not have had a valid ruling of malpractice due to clinical incompetence. Is a member in good standing of, or has not had a loss of membership from, the medical staff at any institution for reasons of disciplinary action or clinical incompetence. Has not been convicted of felony criminal charges and does not currently have pending felony criminal charges against him/her. Undertakes the responsibility, in rendering services under this contract, to comply with all applicable State, Federal and local laws, rules and regulations, and the standards of the Joint Commission Scope of Work: • Practice independently in the provision of psychological services consulting with peers and supervisors as appropriate. • They are assigned to any VHA program and setting, including inpatient or outpatient medicine, surgery, mental health, neurology, rehabilitation medicine, geriatrics, Vet Centers, and the VHA National Center for Organizational Development. • Staff Psychologists diagnose mental disorders, conduct psychological assessments, and treat mental disorders through a variety of modalities and adjunctive interventions. • This position emphasizes the provision of Evidence-Based Psychotherapy (EBP) as appropriate to training and patient care needs as a member of the psychology team. • Individual, family, and group psychotherapies, and other interventions such as biofeedback, suggestion/ hypnosis, and environmental interventions may also be provided. • Apply advanced professional psychological diagnostic methods and evidence-based intervention strategies to a full range of patient problems in his/her work setting. • The primary job functions of psychologists at this level include the provision of direct psychological patient care, consultation services on difficult or complex cases, and education of staff and trainee supervision. • In addition to providing direct patient care, this psychologist communicates and coordinates with the Psychology Service Chief and Section Chiefs to plan the implementation of services to meet the most significant behavioral health care needs of the Veteran population served
