Program overview:

The USSOCOM Preservation of the Force and Family (POTFF)’s mission is to build and implement a superior holistic approach to address the pressure on the force and also the increased stress on operators’ families. The mission is accomplished by increasing the physical, mental and spiritual capacity of the SOF Tactical Athletes over their careers, decreasing the rate of physical and emotional injuries from all causes, and significantly accelerating return to duty times. The program’s end state is to prepare, preserve, sustain and ultimately multiply SOCOM’s combat power by application of integrated inter-disciplinary personal services teams.

Qualifications


The contract psychologist is required to hold a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Psychology Doctor (Psy.D.) degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA approved psychology program (or a program acceptable to the Office of the Surgeon General, U.S. Army).


Shall have completed an APA approved internship/residency in clinical psychology
(or an internship/residency acceptable to the Office of the Surgeon General, U.S. Army).


Have and maintain a current license to practice psychology in any
one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.


Have a minimum of one (1) year’s post-doctoral experience within the past five (5) years in the independent practice of psychology in the area of the clinical psychology, preferably in a Government setting such as a Department of Defense (DOD) or Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) MTF.


Prior experienceworking with physicians providing medical psychological services is desired.Demonstrate a working knowledge of professional standards and ethics regarding the delivery of clinical psychology programs. Demonstrate computer literacy sufficient to operate a personal computer utilizing psychological test, word
processing, database and spread sheet programs, electronic medical record, and possess basic typing skills sufficient to efficiently produce the psychologist’s own reports and correspondence.


All HCPs shall have and maintain current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) as certified by the American Heart Association. Documentation of such training shall be provided to the COR.
