Job Description: As an Occupational Therapist (OT) at [Insert Company Name], you will play a pivotal role in helping individuals of all ages achieve independence and improve their quality of life through meaningful activities and occupations. You will work closely with patients to assess their functional abilities, develop customized treatment plans, and implement therapeutic interventions to promote optimal participation in daily activities.

Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients to assess their physical, cognitive, emotional, and social functioning.
  2. Collaborate with patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team to establish realistic goals and develop individualized treatment plans.
  3. Provide evidence-based occupational therapy interventions to address deficits and enhance performance in activities of daily living (ADLs), work, school, leisure, and social participation.
  4. Utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques and modalities, including manual therapy, adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and environmental modifications, to maximize independence and improve functional outcomes.
  5. Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and document therapy sessions accurately and timely.
  6. Educate patients, families, and caregivers on therapeutic strategies, home exercise programs, and community resources to support continued progress and participation in meaningful activities.
  7. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, and social workers, to coordinate comprehensive care and promote interdisciplinary teamwork.
  8. Stay abreast of current research, best practices, and trends in occupational therapy through continuing education, professional development activities, and participation in professional organizations.

Qualifications:

  1. Master's or doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  2. State licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Occupational Therapist in Alabama.
  3. NBCOT certification (OTR/L) or eligibility to sit for the NBCOT certification examination.
  4. Strong clinical skills and knowledge of evidence-based practice in occupational therapy.
  5. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  6. Compassion, empathy, and a patient-centered approach to care.
  7. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  8. Flexibility to adapt to diverse patient populations and changing healthcare settings.
